Issue Position: Growing Idaho's Agriculture:

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2016

Idaho is the second largest agriculture state of the western 11 states. Agriculture related businesses are Idaho's largest industry. The farming families of the Camas Prairie, the heart of District 7, are stewards of one of Idaho's largest grain producing areas. In 2015, huge shifts in the world market, excessive federal and state regulations, and volatile prices caused Idaho's agriculture exports to decrease 25%. Idaho's net farm incomes dropped 33% in the last two years and it is anticipated to drop 50% in the following two years. The farmers in District 7 need a leader who will provide a strong voice in reducing federal and state regulations on production and support their efforts to remain profitable, produce quality products and be effective stewards of the environment
